There were 5 projects throughout the summer. Three scout
members were able to do a presentation. First is Ryan Wood who did a
project at Driftwood Park.
 Ryan Wood stated he wanted to make the park more user-friendly and
more enjoyable. He cleared a lot of brush from the park. Put down
about 200 linear yards of mulch. He also made some minor repairs to
two wooden bridges. He added signage to the park. He was able to
involve about 70 members of the community with this project.
Commissioner McEathron complimented him on the project and stated
it was a huge improvement. Commissioner Johnson stated it is
definitely a huge improvement. He was just playing there with his son
today. It is a night and day difference. The City Facebook group had
lots of positive comments also. Ryan Wood thanked the City Parks
staff for their help. Ryan Wood also stated he learned a lot about
planning and time management. He learned how to use the resources
and people he had to get as much done as he could. Parks
Superintendent Chris Wolla commented that it was a lot of debris that
was removed from that area and overall he feels the park is safer and
it was a great project.
