Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Fields <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members Present: Commissioners Brunell, Fields, Johnson, McEathron and <br />Quade <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Axberg, Eischen and Justin <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Assistant Director Jason Hicks; Facilities <br />Manager, Bill Bach; Parks Superintendent Chris Wolla and Council Liaison Mary <br />Burg <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MCEATHRON, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER JOHNSON, TO APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR OCTOBER 4, <br />2017. 5 AYES. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes: <br /> A. September 6, 2017 Minutes <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MCEATHRON, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER JOHNSON, TO APPROVE THE SEPTEMBER 6, 2017 <br />MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. 3 AYES, 2 ABSTAINED (BRUNELL AND <br />QUADE). MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />V. New Business <br /> A. New Brighton Farmers Market <br />Assistant Director Jason Hicks introduced Carly McEathron and Emily <br />Dunsworth with the New Brighton Farmers Market. Emily Dunsworth and <br />Carly McEathron, both founding members gave a presentation. <br /> Second season grew significantly from inaugural season; had about 30 <br />vendors including arts, crafts, small businesses, produce vendors, food <br />trucks, live music, about 400-500 hundred each week. Had face <br />painter, balloon artist, hoola hooper. Last week was kids week and we <br />had about 600 people there. People liked to stay and have dinner <br />there. The New Brighton Historical Society sold Stockyard Days <br />Buttons and Duck Race tickets. New Brighton Fire and Police came <br />out a few times, Mounds View Public Schools ECFE came out. U of M <br />master gardener came out and answered questions. <br /> <br />Someone inquired how the vendors like it. Some say it is not their bes t <br />in revenue, but it is their favorite event because of the community feel <br />to it. Some give up going to other Farmers Markets because of the <br />community. One vendor, the Hickory Hog, does extremely well every <br />week. It varies from vendor to vendor. One lady comes every week as <br />a volunteer to show the kids snakes. The face painter volunteers also. <br />It is a 100% volunteer run organization. Four people run it; and have
