January 9, 2018 Page 1 of 5 <br />IiYOf <br />NEW COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />BRU <br />r1�.Vu THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />thu City that works fur }u <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday <br />January 9, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br />Present: Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Allen, Burg, Dunsworth, and Jacobsen <br />Absent: <br />Also Present: Dean Lotter -City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Brenda Davitt-Finance <br />Director, Terri Spangrud-City Clerk <br />Call to Order Call to Order <br />Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br />Pled2c ofAllegianee/Swearing in of Newly Elected Council Members <br />Mayor Johnson led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />City Clerk Spangrud administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Johnson and newly elected <br />Councilmembers Graeme Allen and Emily Dunsworth. A round of applause was offered by all <br />in attendance. <br />Mayor Johnson welcomed Councilmember Dunsworth and Councilmember Allen to the City <br />Council. <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Johnson opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br />Jim Senden, 507 17th Avenue NW, stated he was a former Mayor of New Brighton. He <br />explained he has lived in New Brighton for the past 50 years and noted he lived adjacent to <br />Hanson Park. He commented on the project that was underway at Hanson Park and expressed <br />concern with the lack of communication between the City and the residents. He discussed a <br />conversation he had with the project engineer regarding a compromise proposal proposed by <br />the west side neighbors in November of 2017. He stated this proposal was forwarded to each <br />Councilmember and he has yet to receive a response from the project engineer or the City <br />Councilmembers. He expressed concern with the height of the dredge material that had been <br />placed in the park. It was his understanding that the height of the dredge material and ditch <br />would remain as is.
