February 13, 2018
proposal. He stated after private contacts with the Council he wrote a letter to the editor
voicing his concerns with this change and now the Council was recommending he be removed
from the Planning Commission. He indicated he felt quite strongly against this issue, which
came through in his writing. He stated his concerns were clearly a matter of public concern
and noted he did not mention his role as a Planning Commissioner within the letter. He
believed that the vast majority of the readers would not know he was on the Planning
Commission. He anticipated that many more people were now aware of the situation based on
the Council's desire to remove him from the Planning Commission. He indicated he has been
an effective member of the Planning Commission and would continue in this manner if
allowed to remain with the group. He reported he has had good attendance and meticulous in
reviewing all of the material prior to meetings. He explained he has worked well with all of
the members of the Commission and staff. He stated he has reviewed the Commission
Expectation document that was produced by the Council and did not believe he was in
violation. He understood there may be a difference of opinion on this matter and requested the
Council allow him to remain on the Planning Commission for the remainder of his term.
Approval of AlIenda
Approval of the February 13, 2018 Council Agenda.
Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the
agenda as submitted.
5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried
Council Minutes
Approval of the Council Worksession minutes from January 23, 2018.
Approval ofthe Council minutes from January 23, 2018.
Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to
approve the worksession minutes from the January 23, 2018 meeting.
Councilmember Allen requested a slight change to the minutes in the first sentence on the first
page noting language should be added to clarify the Council was discussing a letter to the
editor regarding the change from odd to even numbered year elections.
5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried
Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to
approve the minutes from the January 23, 2018 meeting.
5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried
Commission Minutes
Mayor Johnson received the following minutes on behalf of the City:
EDC Minutes from January 3, 2018.
Special Order of Business
1.
