Mayor Johnson explained the Council was looking for individuals that have a genuine interest in the <br />community that wanted to make a difference, who were loyal and professional. She reported some individuals <br />bring obvious skill sets through their education and others have interests. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated active engagement in the community was valued. <br />Councilmember Allen believed the City was served well by people who could see the 40,000 view along with <br />minute details. <br />Mayor Johnson commented Mr. Biedenfeld had a great resume and work experience. She encouraged Mr. <br />Biedenfeld to reach out to the City Clerk if he had any further questions. <br />Lotter stated the Council had an abundance of riches among the interviewees. Mayor Johnson agreed. <br />Councilmember Allen commented he received an email last minute from the Tibetan community requesting a <br />proclamation be made to declare March 10th as Tibet Day in the City of New Brighton. Lotter reported staff <br />had drafted a proclamation for the Council to present at the Council meeting. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth asked why March l Ott' was significant. Councilmember Allen explained this date <br />commemorated the 59th anniversary of the uprising in Tibet. He read the proposed proclamation in full for the <br />Council. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth questioned what other cities had signed onto this. Councilmember Allen stated he <br />was uncertain if any other cities had passed a proclamation. Mayor Johnson anticipated Columbia Heights and <br />Fridley would be passing a proclamation. She stated she was happy to pass this proclamation at the Council <br />meeting. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked staff for going out of their way to assist the Tibetan community in finding them <br />a new location to meet. <br />Lotter discussed the upcoming City Council agenda noting Jerry Hromatka would not be able to attend as he <br />was home ill.
