<br /> <br /> <br />VI. Announcements <br /> <br />A. Council Report – Council Member Paul Jacobsen <br /> <br />Council Member Jacobsen provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. <br />He discussed the recent election and thanked New Brighton residents for voting. He <br />explained the City would be staying with even year elections. He discussed the <br />improvements that were now complete at Hansen Park. It was noted several homes would be <br />removed from the flood plain because of the improvements made to Hansen Park. Further <br />discussion ensued regarding the trail improvements that had yet to be completed within the <br />park. He reported the City would be purchasing two new fire trucks for the Public Safety <br />Department. He explained the developers of the New Brighton Elementary School site held <br />a neighborhood meeting to gain feedback on the proposed project. <br /> <br />B. PREC Chair Updates – Kevin Fields <br /> <br />Chair Fields reported Commissioner O’Rourke welcomed a baby boy named Ryan. He <br />stated the Rice Creek Trails would be holding a meeting on November 6th and December 6th <br />to gain information on their biking and hiking trails. <br /> <br />C. Department Happenings and Upcoming Events – City Staff <br /> <br />Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Hicks provided the Commission with an update on <br />upcoming events. He stated he met with the Ramsey County Library recently and noted they <br />were seeking public input for their long-term strategic plan. He reviewed the number of <br />children that have been participating in youth sports and dance classes. <br /> <br />VII.
