REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consideration of Final Payment to Building Restoration Corporation for Exterior Wall Rehabilitation Performed at the New Brighton Community Center DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and Recreation CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ Recommendation: Approve final payment to Building Restoration Corporation for exterior wall rehabilitation performed at the New Brighton Community Center Legislative History: December 13, 2016 – Council approved the 2017 Budget which included funding in the Non- Fleet Capital Asset Replacement Program to perform exterior wall rehabilitation at NBCC. August 22, 2017 - Council approved Building Restoration Corporation’s proposal to perform exterior wall rehabilitation to the west exterior wall of the Eagles Nest for the amount of $33,890.00. Financial Impact: The proposal to replace and repair the through wall flashing system to the west exterior wall of the Eagles Nest was $33,890.00. During the course of the work, it was determined current portions of the metal flashing could not be reused and required replacement. A change order was agreed upon for this replacement at a cost of $2,090.l0. The total cost for the project is $35,980 and will be funded from the Capital Asset Non-Fleet Replacement Fund. Previous payments of $34,181 have been made to Building Restoration Corporation. The current invoice to close out the project totals $1,799.00. Explanation: The exterior brick on the radius wall of the Eagles Nest was in need of repairs to prevent further deterioration.
