Inclusive Community Task Force – Interview Questions

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and please highlight any experiences that may
relate directly to helping New Brighton an inclusive community.

2. The Inclusive Community Task Force is being created to explore ways to make New
Brighton welcoming and inclusive. What would be one topic or issue that you would
suggest is in need of attention by the City?

3. Partnerships are often necessary for a City to achieve various goals. Please name one
organization you are aware of that the City should, in your opinion, consider creating a
partnership for the purposes of creating inclusiveness.

4. While discussing the resolution that would create the Inclusive Community Task Force,
Council contemplated working with different groups within our community. Does the
Task Force engage different religious or ethnic groups in addition to youth (generally
speaking) and even seniors/shut-ins.? Rome wasn’t built in a day; what should be the
focus of the Task Force in your opinion?

5. What do you see as our biggest challenges in working on the goals of the Inclusive
Community Task Force?

6. What is an example of something that could be done sooner than later that could have a
big impact on how all people see New Brighton?

7. How would you advocate for inclusion and diversity initiatives with individuals and
communities who may or may not see its value?

8. Tell us about a time when you had to work with someone who had the direct opposite
point of view or opinion. Could you work cooperatively with them?
