opposition and try to reach a compromise. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen asked if these actions would change if it was a lifelong friend. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush stated this would not change her actions. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson reported each commission is tasked with making recommendations to the City Council. She <br />asked how Ms. Frush would respond if she disagreed with a policy or Ordinance. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush stated she would express why she disagreed and would come up with a proposal to make a change, <br />and would perhaps gather data. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson asked how she would separate herself as a commissioner and a public citizen. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush stated she did not know a great deal about that because she was new to this. She explained this <br />would be a learning opportunity for her. She commented that in serving as a commissioner she would want to <br />represent the community and serve their needs, while also working with the Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth asked what the City’s biggest challenges were. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush commented she just had a baby and does not have a child in the school district. She understood the <br />school district was great and knew the demographics of the district were mostly white. She stated having a <br />diverse citizenship would be valuable. <br /> <br />Councilmember Allen asked if she was interested in land uses and variances; diversity and accessibility; <br />economic programs, retention and development; the impact of recreation on the community; or the impacts of <br />public safety. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush stated she was most interested in the diversity, parks and recreation commission or public safety <br />commission. She indicated these groups would most benefit from her skills and experience. She stated she <br />hoped to serve as a commissioner long-term. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg asked if she was available in the evening hours for meetings. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush explained she would be available in the evenings or for an early morning meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson asked if Ms. Frush had any questions for the Council. <br /> <br />Ms. Frush requested further information on the Commission position appointments. <br /> <br />Spangrud reported the Council would be holding interviews over the next several weeks and would be making <br />appointments at the end of March. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson welcomed Mike Santi. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth asked Mike to tell the Council a little bit about himself and his experiences in the <br />community. <br /> <br />Mike Santi stated he moved to New Brighton in July. He commented he was involved in the new park <br />building. Previous to living in New Brighton he lived in Fridley. He explained they wanted to be settled in
