He thanked Andre Barte for his dedicated service to the <br />City and wished him well in his new position. He also thanked Ms. Kunish-Podin and Senator <br />Laine for attending this evening and for all of their hard work on behalf of the City of New <br />Brighton. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the Public Safety Commission last Monday where <br />the group received an update on Cleveland Avenue and the MNPass project. She noted the <br />Public Safety Department would be conducting several training events at the Korean Church in <br />cooperation with the County. She encouraged all of the Council to attend the upcoming <br />volunteer appreciation luncheon which will be held on Sunday, April 22nd. She thanked Paul <br />Allen for his service on the Public Safety Commission. She commented on the CPY luncheon <br />and thanked all who were able to make contributions at this event. She noted the next VIPS <br />Blood Drive would be held on Wednesday, March 28th from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the Public <br />Safety building. She noted PREC met on Monday, March 7th where the group received a <br />report from the City Forester. She thanked Commissioners Megan Eischen and Larry Justin <br />for their service on PREC. She reviewed the number of visits the Eagle’s Nest has had since <br />its grand reopening in November. She thanked the legislative team for coming in tonight to <br />provide an update and hear from the Council. She noted MNlars has to be fixed. She thanked <br />Andre Barte for his years of service to the City in the IT Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Senator Laine and Representative Kunish-Podin for their efforts on <br />behalf of the City. She understood that MNlars was a concern for the City and that the State <br />was working to correct this matter. She reported the City was still on schedule to switch over <br />to New Brighton water in the fall of 2018. She commented on a recent meeting she attended <br />with local business leaders and Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development/ <br />Planning Director Gundlach. She thanked all who stepped forward to serve as Commissioners <br />or taskforce members. She noted she received a letter from a concerned citizen regarding train <br />noise in the City and indicated she would be responding to this individual.
