Research on Body Worn Cameras <br />Evaluating the Effects of Police Body-Worn Cameras: A Randomized Controlled <br />Trial, The Lab @ DC (October 2017) <br />•Unable to detect any statistically significant effects of BWCs on documented <br />uses of force and civilian complaints, as well as a variety of additional policing <br />activities and judicial outcomes <br />•Experiment suggests that we should recalibrate our expectations of BWCs <br />•BWCs present a number of challenges: they are financially costly and involve <br />new administrative complexities, such as officer training and procedures for <br />retention of and access to video footage <br />•Agencies that are considering adopting BWCs should not expect dramatic <br />reductions in use of force or complaints, or other large-scale shifts in police <br />behavior
