Schlichting commented the CAD Department would not be changing its staffing model but
would have a consulting planner in place during the interim.
Zisla wished Gundlach well in her new position and thanked her for her great work on
behalf of the EDC.
Gundlach reviewed the EDC’s 2018 work plan in detail with the Commission and
commented on the timeline for the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Staff noted the draft
Comprehensive Plan was available for the public to review on the City’s website.
VI. 2017-Summer 2018 New Brighton Exchange e-Newsletter
Gundlach reviewed the draft of the 2017-Summer 2018 edition of the New Brighton
Exchange e-newsletter. This e-newsletter has been drafted annually since 2014, with the
intent of providing a status report on development within New Brighton Exchange. The e-
newsletter originated in 2008 when there was public concern about development
commencement and an array of rumors and misinformation surrounding the
redevelopment. With the passage of time and development progress in New Brighton
Exchange, publication of the e-newsletter has been reduced to once annually since 2014
and public interest surrounding the document has decreased immensely.
Gundlach reported staff is requesting the Commission review the latest draft and provide
feedback in advance of releasing the e-newsletter to the public. The e-newsletter will be
posted online and provided to City website subscribers of New Brighton Exchange updates.
Discussion included:
Minor grammatical changes were suggested to staff for the e-Newsletter.
The Commission requested the e-Newsletter be sent to a broader audience.
The Commission suggested the City’s logo be placed on the e-Newsletter.
The Commission requested the market value information be scaled back so as not to be
overwhelming.
VII. Adjournment
Motion by Commissioner Garcia-Perez, seconded by Commissioner Murlowski to adjourn
the meeting.
5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion carried
Meeting adjourned at 8:09 am
Respectfully submitted,

Ben Gozola
Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development/Director of Planning
