Transportat <br />ion <br />79 The New Brighton 2040 Transportation Chapter is meant as a <br />framework to guide the <br />maintenance and development of road, transit, pedestrian and <br />bicycle facilities in the <br />City of New Brighton. The Chapter is necessary to ensure that <br />the City’s transportation <br />system best accommodates the present and future mobility, <br />access, and safety needs <br />for all of its users. <br />The Chapter aims to position the City’s transportation system <br />within a regional context, <br />putting emphasis on the ability of residents to stay connected <br />to their community, the <br />capacity of business districts to attract new companies, and the <br />ability of all users to <br />move smoothly and safely throughout the community. <br />No Change N/A N/A N/A <br />Transportat <br />ion <br />80 Objectives & Policies <br />The following are the City’s objectives & policies relative to <br />transportation: <br />TRAN 1.0 Develop safe, efficient and convenient <br />interconnected transportation systems for use by automobiles, <br />mass transit, bicycles, and pedestrians <br />TRAN 1.1 Increase the degree to which public transportation, <br />walking, and cycling options connect people to local and <br />regional destinations <br />TRAN 1.2 Identify and eliminate gaps in the Regional Bicycle <br />Transportation Network and build connections to the network <br />TRAN 1.3 Utilize low-cost/high-impact methods to make <br />transportation system more efficient for the movements of <br />people and goods through all transportation modes <br />Enhance Copy and <br />replace to <br />enhance <br />language <br />already in <br />plan.
