Parks 77 PATH FORWARD <br />The first priority implementation initiative regarding parks, <br />recreation, and open space systems is for the city of New <br />Brighton to complete a comprehensive system plan update. The <br />park system plan update will: <br />» Gain input from all residents on the needs and desires for <br />physical park facilities and recreation services; <br />» Gain input on the current desires for public recreation <br />facilities and how well existing facilities such as the New <br />Brighton Community Center fulfils those desires, and <br />determine what level of interest exists in the community for <br />remodelling or expanding the Community Center; <br />» Ensure an inclusive process that seeks to garner participation <br />from a full spectrum of the community’s residents; <br />» Use a combination of community workshops, PREC work <br />sessions, focus groups and individual stakeholder interviews to <br />gain input from the community members, <br />key leaders, and stakeholder groups in the city; <br />» Target specific user groups such as youth sports associations, <br />seniors, teens, active adults, families, and other specific groups <br />for input that may not be readily accessed through traditional <br />input methodologies; <br />» Explore marquee park and recreation opportunities within <br />New Brighton that will not only serve residents but emphasize <br />New Brighton as a destination and contribute to a stronger <br />economy and business climate; <br />» Identify where gaps exist in New Brighton’s park system that <br />No Change N/A N/A <br />Parks 77 » Working collaboratively with Ramsey County (Parks and <br />Transportation) ensure county roads are explored for inclusion <br />of bike facilities where appropriate; <br />Enhance Copy and <br />replace to <br />enhance <br />language <br />already in <br />plan. Copy <br />the <br />suggested <br />» Collaborate with Ramsey Public Works and Active Living <br />Ramsey Communities to construct pedestrian and/or bike <br />facilities along county roads as shown in city and county plans; <br />» Collaborate with other governmental units to complete the <br />Connected Ramsey Communities Network and implement the <br />Ramsey County-wide Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan; <br />Enhancement made <br />Parks 77 » Identify capital improvement costs and ongoing funding <br />needs for proposed park improvements; <br />» Identify and align funding sources; and, <br />» Establish priorities and phasing for key improvement projects. <br />Enhance Copy and <br />replace to <br />enhance <br />language <br />already in <br />plan. Copy <br />the <br />suggested <br />» Identify capital improvement costs and ongoing funding <br />needs for proposed park and trail improvements; <br />» Identify and align funding sources; and, <br />» Establish priorities and phasing for key improvement <br />projects. <br />Enhancement made
