Memo

To: Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission
Members
From: Liz Amici-Floyd, Meeting and Event Coordinator

Subject: Meeting and Events Facility Overview
Date: December 28, 2017

New Brighton Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of facilities to hold
family reunions, baby showers, craft fairs, business meetings, weddings, school
events, and so much more. With New Brighton’s easily accessible location and
affordable pricing options, hosting an event at either the New Brighton
Community Center or one of the park locations has become a popular choice for
both residents and non-residents.

Rooms available at the New Brighton Community Center (NBCC) consist of
meeting rooms for small groups and range up to a banquet room which can
accommodate events with 240 individuals and include the use of a kitchen. After
a rental is reserved in an appropriate space, options such as coffee, water, soda,
pastries, AV equipment, and sound system usage are offered to ensure that all
rentals have their various needs met. The Meeting and Event Coordinator also
works with rental clients on their room set-up layouts while staff on hand during
an event assists with technology and any other room needs that arise. Rooms
can be rented one year in advance.

Aside from room rentals at the NBCC, New Brighton Parks and Recreation also
offers four Neighborhood Center locations (Hansen, Freedom, Sunny Square,
Totem Pole) and the Brightwood Hills Clubhouse that can be rented for events.
These facilities provide nice alternative locations for graduation parties, baby
showers, bridal showers, and even small weddings. These multi-purpose
locations aren’t available for rental year-round as they are used for Edventures
Daycare, the NBPR Playground Program, winter warming houses and the golf
season, however they remain a popular rental for families looking to add on
picnic items, outdoor pavilions, and enjoy a space that is separated from the
Eagles Nest and other rooms.
