11
pumping drill allowed firefighters to demonstrate their instructional skills about the use
of fire pumps as they “taught” members of the command staff how to operate the
suppression equipment on each fire engine.

Sgt. Emerson and Sgt. Sypniewski attended Armorer school for the Smith and Wesson
M&P.

Sgt. Emerson attended PERF/BCA ICAT training at the University of St. Thomas in St.
Paul on November 15th.

Officer Nordhus attended St. Paul PDI report writing.

Officers Craig, Kostohryz, and Nordhus attended FTO school.

X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE

This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the
month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues.
And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on
public safety related issues.

Public Safety recently received notice from Ford that all ten of its Ford Police Interceptor
SUVs require service attention to address a reported carbon monoxide issue. Once the parts have arrived, each SUV must
then be brought back to complete the actual repair.

Office Supervisor Julie Forbord, Office Assistant Gina Krahn, and Director Paetznick
attended a meeting of the four law enforcement agencies who share the joint Zuercher
police records management system (RMS), including Mounds View, Maplewood, and the
Ramsey County Sheriff's Office. A representative from Saint Paul PD was also in
attendance to discuss their agency joining the system in mid-2018.

Public Safety and the City Water Department recently completed an ISO evaluation
which rates the ability of a fire service to provide fire suppression. Staff was advised
they will not hear the results of the survey for approximately five months. The City of
New Brighton currently has an ISO rating of 3 which places it in the top 5% of fire
departments in the State of Minnesota.

October was a busy month in New Brighton for our partners at Allina Health with 193
total ambulance runs, including 127 emergent incidents. The average response time was
7 minutes 34 seconds to these emergency medical calls.

The last two of Public Safety’s Ford Crown Victoria police squad cars were recently sold
at auction. The department had used this model of rear-wheel drive sedans for more than
20 years. The most recent ones were purchased in 2011 and according to City Mechanic
