<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />February 12, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Allen. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Allen, Conway, Cook, Kessler, and Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Boyd, Ghouse, Hollimon, Howard and Malone. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Kessler, seconded by Cook to approve the February 12, 2018 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Conway, seconded by Kessler to approve the January 8, 2018 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Less than Lethal Use of Force – Tony Paetznick, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />Director Paetznick stated one of the benefits of the citizen advisory group was to bring <br />forward and discuss new ideas, which was in alignment with the model for 21st Century <br />Policing. He commented on less than lethal use of force technology options for the Police <br />Department. He stated this would include de-escalation training, Tasers, mace, an asp and <br />less than lethal rounds. He described the importance and value of all life for those living in <br />the community. The tools available to officers today versus 30 years ago were discussed <br />with the Commission. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Questions were asked regarding the less than lethal rounds regarding their range. It <br />was noted officers have fired the less than lethal rounds at the range but were not
