9
On January 18, Detective Voeller signed a complaint against a 40-year old Shoreview
man for Check Forgery. The charges carries a maximum sentence of 10 years and/or a
$20,000 fine. This case stems from the party cashing over $25,000 in checks that were
made out to their elderly father.

On Christmas Day, our VCET officer received a phone call from a Homeland Security
Investigator regarding a 351 pound marijuana interception in South Dakota that was
headed for an address in St. Paul. Due to the holiday and New Year’s, they didn't have
the personnel to immediately follow-up on it. Eventually, a search warrant was written
and executed. Inside the residence, they seized 186 pounds of marijuana and
approximately $27,000.00 in cash. They also wrote four warrants for known bank
accounts and at this point, we know that one account holds $100,000.00. Two people
were arrested inside the residence and refused to speak under Miranda.

On January 29, Detective Voeller signed a criminal complaint against a 26-year old
Forest Lake man for Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle and Possession of 190 grams of
Marijuana. The case stems from the party fleeing from a traffic violation then crashing
his vehicle into a fence. The party tried to flee on foot but was apprehended after being
tased by the officer.

2018 CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIVE SECTION ACTIVITIES

January 2018

Detective Cases Juvenile Adult Clearances
Gun
Permits Background Inv
Lochen 13 2 11 13 3 0
DeBoer 11 1 10 10 1 0
Voeller 14 0 14 13 2 0
Totals 38 3 35 36 6 0
Avg.
