Additionally, it is strongly urged that user passwords adhere to the following recommended practices: <br />• Have a minimum of at least seven alphanumeric characters in length. <br />• Have at least one numeric digit as well as letters. For example: jarg0n5 <br /> Cannot be easily guessed.” (p. 152) <br /> <br />“Commissioners are expected to provide reasonable security for their city-owned iPads. “This includes ensur- <br />ing that passwords are not written down in accessible places, removable media must be kept in a secured area, <br />and that confidential and private or nonpublic data is not displayed in such a manner that anyone unauthorized <br />can view it. “ (p. 153) <br /> <br />Social Media <br /> <br />“Elected officials and officials appointed to City Boards, Committees and Commissions shall comply with the <br />following guidelines when using City of New Brighton social media sites: <br />1. Official City social media sites shall not be used for campaigning purposes. <br />2. Comments or links to any content that endorses or opposes political candidates or ballot propositions, <br />including links to an elected official’s campaign site shall not be posted. (ALL comments posted during <br />an election season by anyone who has filed for office will be removed.) <br />3. Elected officials and members serving on a City board, commission or committee should be mindful <br />of the risks of electronic communication in relation to the Minnesota Data Practices Act and the Open <br />Meeting Law; <br />4. Social media sites should not be used as a mechanism for conducting official City business other than <br />to informally communicate with the public. <br />5. When posting or commenting on a City social media site, officials shall reveal their position and not <br />represent themselves as speaking on behalf of the City. <br />6. Elected officials are not allowed to share non-public information related to coworkers, personnel da- <br />ta, medical information, claims or lawsuits, or other nonpublic or confidential information.” (p. 158) <br /> <br />Reporting problems <br /> <br />Contact your staff liaison or the city’s IT Department if you encounter problems with your city-owned iPad. ... <br /> <br />Before reporting a problem, it is suggested that the user perform a restart of the iPad first. If the problem per- <br />sists then report the problem to the your staff liaison or IT Department.
