<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />May 14, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Vice Chair Wagner. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Sara Conway, Amina Ghouse, Tanya Kessler, Stephanie <br />Malone, Matthew Palmeri, and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Robert Boyd, William Cook, Geoff Hollimon. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, City Manager Dean Lotter, Council Member Emily <br />Dunsworth and Dave Matteson (Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Malone, seconded by Conway to approve the May 14, 2018 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Wagner, seconded by Palmeri to approve the April 9, 2018 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Commissioner Orientation – Dean Lotter, City Manager <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter provided the Commission members with a commissioner orientation and <br />commented on Council expectations. He discussed his responsibilities as the City Manager. He <br />reviewed the City Council and Mayor’s roles and duties. He noted Commission members are <br />appointed by the Council and serve at their pleasure. He encouraged the Commission members <br />to respect the City Council, along with the processes and procedures in place for the group. He <br />discouraged members from editorializing issues in the paper or on social media. He described <br />how individual Commission members were to address conflicts of interest, gifts and favor, data <br />practice rules, and be prepared for and participate in meetings. He provided further comment on <br />role confusion and encouraged members to contact City staff with any questions they may have <br />while serving as a Commission member. He reviewed the Open Meeting Law requirements
