Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson explained he was sent to Wisconsin for the past six months to provide <br />leadership services. He reported his management contract was being reconsidered and it was <br />his hope he would be able to designate another individual to this responsibility going <br />forward. He commented on the Community Report for 2017 and discussed the new design <br />and safety measures being pursued for ambulances. He reviewed AED statistics with the <br />Commission and noted the survival rate in this community was higher, 6% higher, than the <br />national average. He provided further comment on how first responders were working to <br />improve the survival rates for those suffering from a cardiac arrest. He reported he would <br />have response data for the Commission to review at the June meeting. Further discussion <br />ensued regarding the number of AED’s in New Brighton and the benefits of being a Heart <br />Safe Community. <br /> <br />B. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Director Paetznick indicated the next VIPS blood drive would be held on Wednesday, June <br />20th. <br /> <br />C. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick reported the Public Safety Department was recognized with a CTV North <br />Suburbs Hall of Fame Award for its Public Safety Spotlight television show. He explained <br />this show has been on the air for 15 years and has around 175 episodes. He stated the Public <br />Safety Department would be involved in New Brighton Clean Up Days on Saturday, May <br />19th. He noted this week was National Police Week and Tuesday, May 15, was National <br />Peace Officers Memorial Day. He indicated active shooter training would be held May 21-23 <br />at the Korean Church site. He invited the Commission members to participate in this event. <br />He noted the Public Safety Department was gearing up for boat monitoring on Long Lake. <br />He commented Salem Covenant Church would be hosting a Global 6K for Water run on <br />Saturday, May 19th. He stated the Public Safety Department was hosting a Squad Car Bakery <br />on Friday afternoons and would be targeting different neighborhoods throughout the <br />community. <br /> <br />D. Human Rights – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />There was nothing new to report. <br />
