2 <br />1. INCIDENT RESPONSE INFORMATION <br /> <br />On August 1st, New Brighton squads responded to a report of a 42 year old New Brighton <br />man pulling a knife on family members and threatening to kill them. Upon their arrival, <br />they were able to take the party into custody without incident. He was booked at the <br />Ramsey County jail. <br /> <br />On August 6th, a resident in the 1100 block of Pike Lake Circle reported that sometime <br />between Sunday night and Monday morning, unknown persons entered his unlocked <br />work vehicle and removed three pieces of plumping equipment that had a combined <br />value of $17,000. The reporting officer checked the Automated Pawn System (APS) to <br />cross-reference recent activity of similarly described items but did not locate any <br />potential matches. <br /> <br />During the day shift on August 6th, officers responded to two separate incidents at <br />Crossroads of New Brighton at 2287 Palmer Drive involving a 97 year-old resident who <br />suffers from dementia that was first witnessed attempting to open vehicle doors in the <br />parking lot and later was walking the hallway knocking on doors. In both cases, he had <br />been left unattended by his Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) but was returned safely to <br />his apartment. <br /> <br />On August 7th, officers investigating a domestic disturbance in the parking lot of Long <br />Lake Regional Park between an adult male and his father. While on scene, officers <br />observed a hand grenade in the passenger side floor of the suspect’s vehicle. The owner <br />advised that it was not real, however, after consultation with the Saint Paul PD Bomb <br />Squad, a technician advised that based on appearance it could have been an inert device <br />altered into an active one. The Bomb Squad responded and took custody of the device to <br />determine whether or not it was inert and the incident remains an active investigation. <br /> <br />On August 8th, a male driver was texting on his cell phone as he drove by the lower level <br />parking lot for the police squads. After stopping the driver, DWI Officer Don Kostohryz <br />searched the suspect’s vehicle and found both suspected methamphetamine and a <br />reported stolen loaded Ruger semi-automatic handgun. The handgun was located <br />underneath the front seat. The driver was booked for DWI, controlled substance <br />violation, and possession of a stolen firearm. <br /> <br />On August 11th, officers responded to the gas station at Silver Lake Road and County <br />Road E on report of an overdose victim in the backseat of a car. Officers found the <br />victim with shallow breathing and turning blue. They administered two doses of <br />Narcan/Naloxone to the victim and assisted with rescue breathing until the arrival of <br />paramedics. The victim was transported to the hospital by Allina ambulance for <br />evaluation. <br /> <br />On August 11th, squads assisted Mounds View PD with a perimeter while looking for a <br />female possibly being trafficked by a male who carries a gun. Negative results for the <br />suspect and victim. <br /> <br />On August 13th, officers checking the welfare of an elderly resident at The View at Long <br />Lake Apartments who had not been heard from for three days found him to be down on
