15 <br /> <br />Our VCET Officer was asked to train in a new officer in the unit. <br /> <br />On August 23rd, Deputy Director Hamdorf attended the monthly meeting of the Statewide <br />Emergency Communications Board (SECB). The SECB oversees all public safety <br />communications within the State including the 911 system. Representatives from <br />Century Link attended the meeting to explain the cause of the recent Statewide 911 <br />outage and communicate what steps have been taken to prevent any re-occurrence. <br /> <br />On August 29th, Director Paetznick met with several suburban Ramsey County Police <br />Chiefs representing the cities of Mounds View, Roseville, Saint Anthony, North Saint <br />Paul, White Bear Lake, and Maplewood to discuss possible collaboration of jointly <br />funding a social worker position to handle follow-up mental health issues with residents <br />in these communities. The group is going to consult with Northeast Youth and Family <br />Services (NYFS) to gauge their interest in collaborating with such a service. <br /> <br />XI. RECOGNITION, NEWS AND INFORMATION <br /> <br />This section will include “good news” information about our public safety personnel. <br />This will include formal and informal recognition of the department and/or its personnel <br />on or off duty. <br /> <br />On August 1, 2018, at approximately 4:20 pm CDT, CenturyLink experienced a vendor- <br />related outage that impacted 911 services in MN, ND and NC that lasted approximately <br />50 minutes. Initial findings indicate that work being done by the vendor in their network <br />impacted call processing, which included 911. The vendor corrected the issue quickly to <br />restore service. CenturyLink and the vendor are continuing to investigate the issue. <br /> <br />Office Supervisor Julie Forbord diligently completed the significant data request that was <br />recently received from a television production company for this May 2014 incident that <br />required her viewing all of the crime scene photos, listening to the audio interviews, and <br />redacting private/non-public data from the inactive investigative case file. The City <br />Attorney assisted with statutory guidance to properly reference those items that were not <br />released. This project took several hours over a couple weeks. <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Department was honored to open the brand new Lions Park <br />softball field by hosting the Annual New Brighton Department of Public Safety <br />Police vs. Fire softball game on Monday night as a part of the 2018 New Brighton <br />Stockyard Days. We are grateful to the City Council and the New Brighton <br />Lions Club for their foresight, generosity, donations and support to make this park a <br />reality. The Police Division won the game on a walk off double in the bottom of the ninth <br />inning by Aaron Slack. Aaron was also the winning pitcher for the PD. Final <br />score, PD 12 – FD 11. Congratulations to ever yone! <br /> <br />
