5 <br /> <br />On September 24, Public Safety responded to a medical emergency of a male feeling <br />weak at a residence in the 3200 block of Pecks Woods Turn. Squads arrived and found <br />the patient to be in full cardiac arrest. CPR was started. The lifesaving efforts were <br />unsuccessful. The death does not appear suspicious but the Medical Examiner responded <br />to the scene and took the body for investigation. <br /> <br />Officers responded to a residence on September 24 around 9:15pm on report of a victim <br />who had taken an unknown amount of painkillers. The caller was not on-scene but had <br />witnessed the incident via video chat. Upon arrival, officers were unable to make contact <br />with anyone at the residence, and given the exigent circumstances of the call, forced entry <br />into the house. The victim was found unconscious on the floor and first aid was initiated. <br />Allina paramedics transported the victim to the hospital. <br /> <br />On September 27, officers were dispatched to the Long Lake Boat Launch on report of a <br />child left unattended in a vehicle. They found a 7-month-old infant sleeping inside a car <br />seat of a locked vehicle. Anglers at the pier report that the father regularly gets drunk and <br />leaves the child. Officers were unable to locate the father or mother. The child was <br />transported to Saint Paul Children’s Hospital for evaluation and placement with Ramsey <br />County Child Protection. <br /> <br />On September 27, New Brighton Fire was dispatched on a vehicle fire. Upon their <br />arrival, the vehicle was fully engulfed. NBFD was able to extinguish the fire. <br /> <br />Public Safety responded to the east side of Hansen Park on Sunday evening, September <br />30 around 8pm for a portable toilet that was on fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. <br /> <br />On September 30 around 2pm, a resident in the 500 block of 23rd Avenue reported a <br />male walking with a possible AR-15 rifle eastbound along 5th Street NW. Another caller <br />to dispatch advised subject had left their residence with two guns and made statements <br />that he wanted officers to kill him. The long-gun was determined to be a BB gun but the <br />person-in-crisis also had a handgun on his belt. He repeatedly asked officers to shoot and <br />kill him. The male eventually did prone out on the ground and voluntarily removed with <br />a belt with a holstered gun that was found to be a BB gun replica of a Glock 19. He was <br />also wearing a cardboard vest made to appear like a ballistic vest. After securing him, he <br />advised that his medications are “off” and he had planning to do “suicide by cop” for <br />three weeks. Allina paramedics transported him to United Hospital.
