10 <br />The volunteer members of Public Safety’s Police Reserve Auxiliary were busy last <br />weekend providing traffic control and a proactive presence at the Saint John’s Fall Fest <br />on Friday and Saturday evenings, along with their 5K and one-mile walk/run race on <br />Saturday morning. Reserves also staffed the 26th Annual Irondale Marching Band Music <br />of the Knight Festival on Saturday evening. <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />Members of the FD had a “Confined Space Drill” a few weeks ago. They did the annual <br />confined space training by using the hose tower at the PSC. The scenario was a victim <br />that had entered a confined space and the was trapped under a heavy object. They <br />performed a rescue of the victim by using air bag lifts. <br /> <br /> <br />Deputy Director Trevor Hamdorf, and Deputy Fire Chiefs Brad Krebsbach and Mike <br />Schute attended the 58th annual AMEM conference September 16-19. The conference <br />theme was People, Planning, and Partnerships: The Pathway to Success. <br /> <br />Officer Supervisor Julie Forbord, Office Assistant Gina Krahn, Deputy Director Trevor <br />Hamdorf and Detective Mike Lochen attended the annual Zuercher One conference in <br />Sioux Falls, SD in September to learn more about enhancing our agency’s use of the <br />existing RMS and network with other system users and the software developers on <br />feature requests.
