Existing ConditionsDRAFT 2-13 <br />Age Characteristics <br />In 2015, a significant portion of the population was older than 65 years in age. As <br />demonstrated in Figure 2-4, the labor force age group (ages 20 to 64) represents the <br />City’s largest age group accounting for 58% of the population. The next largest age <br />group is the school age group (ages zero to 19) representing 25% of the population. <br />The retired age group (ages 64 and over) accounts for the final 17% of the City’s <br />population. <br />The portion of the population over 65 years in age is much larger than the County <br />at large. For comparison purposes, 90% of Ramsey County’s population age 25 and <br />over have attained a high school degree and 40% have attained a bachelor’s degree or <br />higher. <br />Table 2-5.
