2-14 New Brighton Comprehensive Plan | 2040 DRAFT <br />Economy <br />According to the US Census Bureau’s Center for Economic Studies, there were <br />10,540 total jobs in New Brighton in 2015. This number includes primary occupations <br />and secondary occupations. Out of that number, only 677 people work and live within <br />New Brighton, all other employees travel from neighboring communities, and 10,228 <br />residents go elsewhere to work. As seen in Table 2-1, employment within the City is <br />expected to grow between now at 2040. <br />As seen in Figure 2-6 the most common occupation category within New Brighton’s <br />labor force is management, professional and related at 46%, followed by sales and <br />office occupations at 23%. Figure 2-5 shows that Educational, health and social <br />service occupations are the largest industry, with manufacturing coming in second. <br />In 2015, the median household income in New Brighton was $60,964, which is <br />more than Ramsey County’s median household income of $56,104.
