I <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 7:41 p.m. <br />Councilmember Burg requested staff take into account the comments and concerns that were <br />raised by Mr. Goodrich to ensure this lake does not take on any further sediment/runoff. <br />Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting discussed the storm water <br />corrections the City would be making to improve the storm water management in this area of <br />New Brighton. He reported the City does participate in the water quality treatments of Pike <br />Lake. He explained if an unordinary amount of sediment were brought into the lake during the <br />project, the contractor would be responsible for removal of this sediment. He described the silt <br />fence that would be installed to assist with managing the situation. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Council Business <br />None. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the City has been looking at expanding its IT staff and has <br />budgeted for a new position. He commented on a study that was completed to assist the City <br />in evaluating its IT needs. He noted Andre Barte would be leaving the City for a job with the <br />private sector after 20+ years of service to New Brighton. He explained staff would be rolling <br />out a plan for the new hires that would be needed. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported he missed the EDC meeting in March. He explained the group <br />received an update on the Korean Church and noted staff was meeting with developers to <br />discuss the options for this site. He indicated affordable housing was a viable option for this <br />property. He thanked Andre Barte for his 20+ years of service to the City. He thanked all of <br />the volunteers that were interviewed for Commission positions. He thanked Public Safety <br />Director Paetznick for working with the schools in order to address the fears and concerns <br />coming from parents after the recent school shooting. He stated he was interested in staff <br />hosting sexual harassment training for staff and the City Council. <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported she attended the Community Partners with Youth <br />luncheon last week. She thanked all who attended this event and to those who shared their <br />inspiring stories. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported he was unable to attend the recent Public Safety <br />Commission meeting. He reminded the public to replace their smoke detector batteries when <br />they push their clocks forward this weekend. He encouraged residents to plan a safe ride if <br />planning to celebrate this St. Patrick's Day.
