Consideration of Resolution Authorizing Early Decertification of TIF District <br />No. 25 — Lakeview South. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councihnember Burg to approve a Resolution <br />authorizing Early Decertification of TIF District No. 25 — Lakeview South. <br />City Manager Lotter indicated Finance Director Davitt would be presenting this item to the Council. <br />Finance Director Davitt stated TIF District No. 25 will repay the interfund loan to the Municipal <br />Development Fund by the end of the year and there is sufficient funds on hand to pay the <br />2012B bonds early on July 1. Thus, the City's public financial advisor, Ehlers, recommended <br />that TIF District No. 25 be de -certified. Further discussion ensued regarding the City's net tax <br />capacity and tax rate. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked staff for the thorough presentation and for pointing out the <br />positive impacts redevelopment has on New Brighton residents. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated he was proud when items like this come before the City <br />Council. He appreciated the fact the City would be expanding its tax base. <br />Councilmember Allen commented he appreciated the fact that the redevelopment and <br />economic market was strong in New Brighton. He explained this meant the City could grow <br />businesses and provide jobs, even in difficult times. City Manager Lotter addressed the <br />Council further regarding the benefits TIF has had on the City. <br />Mayor Johnson stated this was an exciting item for the Council to be approving. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the City would be closing on the Mattefy property. He explained <br />staff had donated over 600 hours of leave to assist City Clerk Spangrud with her need for more <br />paid time off. He stated it was with great sadness he let the Council know the City's Assistant <br />Director of Community Assets and Development/Planning Director would be leaving the City <br />of New Brighton. He noted Ms. Gundlach had taken a position with the City of Inver Grove <br />Heights. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported he attended the League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference <br />last -week in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He explained this was a very great event and discussed <br />some of the sessions he was able to attend. He stated the EDC would be meeting next on <br />Wednesday, July 11th at 7:30 a.m. He thanked the City's generous staff members for sharing <br />their earned paid time with City Clerk Spangrud. He wished Janice Gundlach all the best in <br />her new position. <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported the Fill the Boot Campaign would be held in New <br />Brighton on Wednesday, June 27th and Thursday, June 28th.
