June 26, 2018 <br />public service announcement regarding fireworks noting fireworks that explode or fire into the <br />air were illegal. She indicated the New Brighton Farmer's Market would be open again from <br />3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27th at the United Theological Seminary. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the PREC Commission would not be meeting in July. The <br />PREC would meet next on Wednesday, August 1St. He provided the public with an update on <br />Hanson Park. He explained he enjoyed his time at the League of Minnesota Cities Annual <br />Conference, along with the conversations he had with other governmental officials. He <br />encouraged everyone to have a safe and happy 4th of July. He wished Ms. Gundlach all the <br />best in her new position with Inver Grove Heights. <br />Mary Buriz <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission did not meet in June. She stated this <br />group would meet next on Tuesday, July 17th. She wished Ms. Gundlach well in her new <br />position and stated she has been a valuable employee with the City of New Brighton. She <br />explained she learned a great deal from the League of Minnesota Cities Conference. She stated <br />30 pints of blood were donated last week at the VIPS Blood Drive. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson thanked the entire City Council for attending the League of Minnesota Cities <br />Conference and for attending sessions. She discussed the sessions she attended and noted she <br />learned a great deal from the event. She noted the Inclusive Community Task Force met on <br />Monday, June 18th and would meet again on Monday, July 16th. She thanked the members of <br />the Task Force for all of their great work. She explained she met with 25 members of the <br />Latino community last night and discussed barriers this community had in New Brighton. She <br />provided the Council with an update on Stockyard Days and noted the New Brighton Idol <br />contest would begin later this week.
