September 25, 2018 <br />Heights, explained Mr. Haidari runs an online car auction site that purchases cars from all over <br />the United States. These cars are then sent to warehouses to be sent overseas. <br />Mayor Johnson asked if staff had visited the current auto sales dealership on Old Highway 8. <br />Assistant Director ofCommunity Assets and Development Gozola reported staffhad visited this site and <br />spoke to the owner in order to bring the site into compliance with City Code. He reported the business owner <br />had been put on notice that further code violations would result in the revocation of the SUP. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Tonv Paetznic_k <br />Interim City Manager Paetznick reported absentee voting had opened in the City of New <br />Brighton at the Community Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. He noted the Fire Division <br />would be flushing hydrants over the coming weeks. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC would be meeting next on Wednesday, October 3`d <br />He explained the group would be discussing the redevelopment of the old New Brighton <br />Elementary School. He encouraged residents to get registered to vote in order to participate in <br />the general election which would occur on November 61h <br />Emily I]unsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported Wednesday, October 3`d was National Coffee with a Cop <br />day. She invited the public to visit the Bru House from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to have coffee <br />and cupcakes with local Police Officers. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported PREC would be meeting next on Wednesday, October 3`d at <br />6:30 p.m. He commented on the great work that has been completed at Hanson Park and noted <br />he visited this park after the recent large rain event. He was pleased to report the trails and <br />park were not underwater after receiving four inches of rain. He encouraged the public to visit <br />Hanson Park. <br />Mary Buri <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the Tuesday, September 18th Planning <br />Commission meeting. She stated NYFS would be holding their Taste of Northeast fundraiser <br />on Thursday, October 11th at Vadnais Heights Commons at 5:30 p.m. She explained tickets <br />were available in advance for $30 or could be purchased at the door for $40. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported the Council began discussing a potential change to the legal tobacco <br />purchase age at the worksession meeting this evening. She explained the proposed change <br />would raise the legal age to purchase to 21. She stated a public hearing regarding this issue <br />would be held in the future. She indicated the Inclusive Community Task Force did not meet <br />in September and would meet next on Monday, October 15th.
