Per staff's <br />analysis in the report, the addition should only have a positive impact on this property and the <br />surrounding area. Staff provided further comment on the request and recommend approval of <br />the request with conditions. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen indicated this would be a very good change for the restaurant. <br />Councilmember Burg agreed stating this would be a great improvement for this business. She <br />thanked the Johnson's for participating in the NYFS Taste of Northwest. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked the Planning Commission for thoroughly discussing and making a <br />recommendation to the City Council. <br />Councilmember Allen asked when the project would begin construction. Assistant Director of <br />Community Assets and Development Gozola explained the applicant had not told staffthe exact project <br />timeline. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison_ Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter thanked two professors from Mankato State University for their visit <br />today. He commented on an email the Council received from Jeff North who was a private <br />license bureau owner in St. Paul. He noted Mr. North had not supported the City's request to <br />pursue an expanded license bureau but noted the City would not stand in his way of relocating. <br />He reported the City received concerns regarding an automobile dealership on Old Highway 8. <br />He explained this issue would be addressed by the Council at their next meeting. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC would not be meeting in December, which meant the <br />EDC would meet next on Wednesday, January 2nd at 7:30 a.m. <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth shared the results from National Night Out and reported the City <br />was awarded 2nd Place nationally for 2018. She congratulated the City for their efforts. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported PREC will meet next on Wednesday, December 5th at 6:30 <br />p.m. He thanked the Rotary Club, Lions, the Sportsman's Club and all other fraternal <br />organizations in the community for their generous donations to the City. Lastly, he thanked <br />the citizens of New Brighton for their input on the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission would meet next on Tuesday, <br />December 18th. She offered her condolences to the Marie Stepaniak family and discussed the <br />great life Marie had lived in her 93 years in New Brighton. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson discussed several businesses in the community that had recently made <br />improvements and thanked them for their investment in the City of New Brighton.
