<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />August 12, 2019 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners William Cook, Amina Ghouse, Geoff Hollimon, Tanya <br />Kessler (arrived at 6:42 p.m.), Stephanie Kitzhaber, Stephanie Malone, and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Robert Boyd, and Ache Wakai. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, Director Craig Schlichting, Council Member Paul <br />Jacobsen and Dave Matteson (Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Malone, seconded by Kitzhaber to approve the August 12, 2019 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Wagner, seconded by Malone to approve the June 10, 2019 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Traffic Issues – Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development and <br />Tony Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br /> <br />Director Paetznick stated Director Schlichting was present to provide the Commission with a <br />presentation on traffic concerns in the City. It was noted the City was facing more traffic <br />issues this year than in years past due to the construction taking place on I-35W. He <br />reviewed the four E’s for traffic safety as being education, engineering, enforcement and <br />emergency response. He commented on the importance of having strong partnerships in the <br />community with DCAD, MnDOT, Ramsey County, the Mounds View School District and <br />the Ramsey County Traffic Safety Initiative. <br /> <br />Director Schlichting reviewed the City’s policies and statutes regarding traffic and discussed <br />the most common issues facing the City. He showed the Commission an informational video
