<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />December 9, 2019 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Robert Boyd, Geoff Hollimon, Stephanie Kitzhaber, <br />Stephanie Malone, Karen Wagner, and Ache Wakai. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners William Cook, Amina Ghouse and Tanya Kessler. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, Director Craig Schlichting, Mayor Valerie Johnson and <br />Dave Matteson (Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Boyd, seconded by Malone to approve the December 9, 2019 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Malone, seconded by Wagner to approve the October 14, 2019 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Traffic Control Sign Petition Follow-Up – Craig Schlichting, Director Community <br />Assets and Development, and Tony Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br /> <br />Director Paetznick stated Director Craig Schlichting was present to follow up with the <br />Commission regarding a petition for stop signs on 6th Street NW. <br /> <br />Director Schlichting explained staff received a petition for stop signs on 6th Street NW in <br />August of 2019. He described the reasons when stop signs were installed noting this required <br />warrants to be met, to alleviate traffic concerns or to address speed concerns. He discussed a <br />map of New Brighton showing where all stop signs were located in the City. He reviewed <br />the traffic study information that was collected by his department. He commented on the <br />four accidents that occurred in this neighborhood in the past 10 years. He reported this <br />corridor does not over 300 cars per day.
