<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />March 6, 2019 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Fields. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Kevin Fields (Chair), Pam Axberg, Matt Johnson, Zachary <br />Johnson, Abe McEathron, Julia O’Rourke, Nick Quade and Mike Santi. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Jack Brunell. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Superintendent of Parks Wolla; Director Craig Schlichting; <br />and Council Member Paul Jacobsen. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Chair Fields requested Items A and B be switched on the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by McEathron, seconded by O’Rourke to approve the agenda as amended. Motion <br />carried 8-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by Johnson to approve the December 5, 2018 minutes as <br />presented. Motion carried 6-0-2 (Chair Fields and Commissioner Axberg abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Discussion on Neighborhood Center Restrooms – Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation and Chris Wolla, Superintendent of Parks <br /> <br />Director Fink and Superintendent of Parks Wolla described the history and current practices <br />with restrooms located at four local Neighborhood Centers: Totem, Freedom, Hansen, and <br />Sunny Side Parks. The use of these facilities was reviewed with the Commission, along with <br />the hours of operation. Staff addressed the challenges for providing service and keeping the <br />restrooms open daily during the summer, along with the benefits. Potential options <br />available to the City was reviewed with the Commission.
