<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />August 7, 2019 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Axberg. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Pam Axberg (Chair), Kevin Fields, Amelia Kuiper, Zachary <br />Johnson, Abe McEathron, Mike Santi, and Charles Warner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Matt Johnson and Julia O’Rourke. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Assistant Director Jason Hicks; and Council Member Mary <br />Burg. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by McEathron, seconded by Werner to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried <br />7-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by McEathron, seconded by Johnson to approve the June 5, 2019 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 5-0-2 (Fields and Santi abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Mid-Year Update – Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Director Fink stated each year, the department gathers facts and figures on how things have <br />gone over the past year. However, we often lose sight of the progress while in the middle of <br />the year. The goal is to provide an update to the Commission on programs, facilities and <br />opportunities within the parks and recreation department mid -year. Staff reviewed the <br />reorganization that has occurred within the Parks and Recreation Department, noting the new <br />staff members that has been brought to the City of New Brighton. She discussed the number <br />of visitors that frequent the Eagle’s Nest. She reported the irrigation system would be <br />replaced at the Brightwood Hills Golf Course. She indicated the New Brighton Farmer’s Market <br />was operating successfully from the New Brighton Community Center. She discussed the
