<br /> <br />partnership the City had with RISE and explained this organization has requested to lease four <br />rooms in order to grow their day program in the community. She commented further on the <br />early election space that was being negotiated with Ramsey County. She discussed the <br />advertising efforts that were taking place on the electronic billboard and encouraged the <br />Commission members to visit the newly painted Beautiful Project mural. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Staff discussed the maintenance and repair that has taken place at the Eagle’s Nest. <br /> It was noted the Community Center would be shut down for cleaning and maintenance <br />September 3rd through September 6th. Pop up fitness classes would be offered in City <br />parks during this time. <br /> <br />VI. Announcements <br /> <br />A. City Council Report – Council Member Mary Burg <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg explained staff and the Council were working on the 2020 budget at this <br />time. She reported the Council held a worksession meeting with staff last Wednesday to begin <br />budget discussions. She stated she was happy to report the City of New Brighton had received <br />an AA+ bond rating from Standard & Poor’s. She indicated Stockyard Days was taking place at <br />this time and encouraged residents to get out and take in the wonderful events that have be en <br />planned. She stated the City would begin taking organics recycling at the Public Works <br />Maintenance Facility in the next month. She thanked all of the residents of New Brighton who <br />participated in National Night Out. She noted the City had over 140 ne ighborhood parties this <br />year. <br /> <br />B. PREC Chair Updates – Pam Axberg <br /> <br />Chair Axberg thanked staff for providing the Commission with weekly updates. <br /> <br />C. Department Happenings and Upcoming Events – City Staff <br /> <br />Director Fink provided the Commission with an update on Parks and Recreation events <br />occurring in the community. She discussed the new staff members that were offering personal <br />training and fitness classes at the Community Center. She reported a 40-kilowatt array of solar <br />panels have been installed on the roof of the Community Center which would help the City <br />lower its electric bill. <br /> <br />VII.
