<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />October 2, 2019 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Axberg. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Pam Axberg (Chair), Amelia Kuiper, Matt Johnson, Zachary <br />Johnson, Abe McEathron, Julia O’Rourke, Mike Santi, and Charles Warner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Kevin Fields (excused). <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink, Council Member Mary Burg, and Judy Anderson, Rise. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by O’Rourke to approve the agenda as presented. Motion <br />carried 8-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by Santi to approve the September 4, 2019 minutes as <br />presented. Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Presentation of Rise and the services offered at the New Brighton Community Center – <br />Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and Recreation and Judy Anderson, Rise <br /> <br />Director Fink stated Rise began operating one of their Adult Day programs at the New <br />Brighton Community Center in July of 2018. Since then, they have continued to grow and <br />become an integral part of the community. Judy Andersen from Rise was present to provide <br />an update on the services Rise provides at the New Brighton Community Center as well as <br />information on their planned expansion. <br /> <br />Judy Anderson, Rise representative, introduced herself to the Commission and discussed <br />the great work being done by Rise for people with disabilities.
