<br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />October 8, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Robert Boyd, William Cook, Amina Ghouse (arrived at 6:46 <br />p.m.), Geoff Hollimon, Tanya Kessler, Stephanie Malone, Matthew Palmeri and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Sara Conway. <br /> <br />Also Present: Deputy Director Hamdorf, Council Member Emily Dunsworth and Dave Matteson <br />(Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Kessler, seconded by Malone to approve the October 8, 2018 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Kessler, seconded by Palmeri to approve the September 10, 2018 minutes as <br />presented. Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Fire Division Fleet – Trevor Hamdorf, Public Safety Deputy Director <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf provided the Commission with a presentation on the Fire Division <br />and an update on the fleet. He described the amount of people and advanced training <br />involved in providing high quality fire protection services. He discussed the fire trucks the <br />Fire Division has at this time, how each piece of equipment served the public and commented <br />on the new fire trucks that would be purchased. The types of calls the department responds <br />to was reviewed, along with the benefits of the current dispatch system. It was noted the <br />City’s ISO rating was Class 3. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• Staff provided further comment on the diverse types of calls the Fire Division <br />responds to. <br />• Staff discussed the different type of gas and other odor calls that were monitored by <br />the Fire Division.
