10 <br />Citizen Participation <br />Increase participation at city sponsored events <br /> <br />RESULTS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />INTERPRETATION <br /> <br />Participation at National Night Out increased from 2017 to 2018. Even with the trend of National Night Out parties <br />combining, we had 13 more registered parties in 2018. The City of New Brighton was awarded a 2 nd place award in our <br />population category for our NNO efforts in 2018. NNO continues to be a strong and impactful source for citizen <br />participation and engagement. <br /> <br />Though this metric is used to measure citizen participation, it is not comprehensive or necessarily indicative of citizen <br />participation in the City of New Brighton. The City has been deliberate in engaging citizens in a variety of ways on a varie ty <br />of topics. We utilized Polco to gather input on changing our logo; the In clusive Community Task Force was initiated to learn <br />about ways we can engage certain populations in our community; we held multiple neighborhood meetings regarding a <br />variety of topics including water and elections; we focused on our social media accounts a nd newsletters to ensure our <br />residents were getting pertaining information in a timely way. <br /> <br />RESPONSE <br /> <br />The City of New Brighton is known for it’s active engagement with residents through National Night Out and other <br />community oriented events.
