She commented per the 2030 Comprehensive <br />Plan the Met Council states the City must have 164 more units of low-income housing. She <br />reported this same requirement was applicable in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. She <br />questioned why the Mayor and City Council was supporting a development that would have <br />200 affordable senior housing units and 154 affordable apartments. She explained this would <br />bring 354 affordable housing units into the City of New Brighton, which was 194 more units <br />than was required by the Met Council. She encouraged the City Council to remove the 154 <br />apartment units from the Korean Church development. John Connelly - Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />John Connelly, Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce, introduced himself to the Council and thanked <br />them for their time. He stated he discussed the vision of the Chamber within the community. He provided <br />the Council with a handout on the work being completed by the Chamber. He commented on the special <br />events that were being planned for 2019 and encouraged the City Council to participate. He discussed the <br />tool kit that was being created for businesses to assist with navigating the upcoming I-35W reconstruction <br />project, in hopes of minimizing the anxiety this three-year project will create. He invited the Council to attend <br />an Open House at the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, February 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Mr. Connelly for coming to the Council meeting.
