Represented clients in family law, <br />criminal law and bankruptcy matters in applicable West Virginia Courts. Interviewed clients, counseled them concerning <br />their legal options, investigated the facts of their claims, analyzed applicable statutes/cases, drafted legal documents, <br />negotiated on behalf of clients and appeared in court to litigate their claims. Communicated effectively, both verbally <br />and in writing, with a broad, diverse audience. <br /> <br />WVU Institute for Labor Studies and Research, Morgantown, WV <br />Graduate Assistant, Feb 2006-May 2008 <br />Improved labor-management relations, and enhanced labor roles within the community. Developed reporting systems to <br />enhance economic development in West Virginia. Researched <br />and interpreted personnel regulations to resolve staffing issues. Attended hearings, briefings, and lectures pertaining to <br />Long-Term Care issues on Capitol Hill and around the DC metro area. I applied laws, regulations, policies, and case law <br />concerning prohibited discrimination. Communicated effectively with a broad, diverse audience. <br /> <br />AWARDS AND EVALUATIONS <br />2008 - Order of the Barrister - The Order of Barristers is an American honor society whose purpose is the <br />encouragement of oral advocacy and brief writing skills through effective law school advocacy programs. The Order of <br />Barristers seeks to improve these programs through interscholastic sharing of ideas, information, and resources. The <br />Order also provides national recognition for individuals who have excelled in advocacy and service at their respective <br />schools.
