Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: Conduct recognition by New Brighton Department of Public Safety and Allina <br />Health Emergency Medical Services for Life Saving Awards. <br /> <br />Legislative History: Public Safety has a tradition of recognizing Life Saving Awards during City <br />Council meetings. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: n/a <br /> <br />Explanation: On January 23, 2019 around 9:38 pm, 31-year-old Noor Siddiqui collapsed at LA <br />Fitness. Officers Cody Amberg and Taylor Wodnick, along with Public Safety <br />Officers (PSOs) John Thomas and Claudia Valdez responded to the 911 call. <br />Allina Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Dispatcher Meagan Cheney <br />provided pre-arrival instructions and Ms. Siddiqui’s brother-in-law Mir Ali <br />performed CPR. Responding officers found that the victim was not breathing <br />and did not have a pulse. They continued lifesaving efforts and administered <br />two shocks with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), at which time Ms. <br />Siddiqui regained a pulse. Allina Paramedic Charles Babbini and EMT Mark <br />Beckenbach arrived to further provide patient care, with PSOs Thomas and <br />Valdez riding in the ambulance to assist them. Ms. Siddiqui was transported to <br />Hennepin County Medical Center and was breathing on her own upon arrival. <br />She recovered and was able to return home. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ________________________ <br />Anthony S.
