<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider Authorization to Purchase a 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility <br />Hybrid to Replace Unit 1408 a 2014 Ford Police Interceptor Utility <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Anthony S. Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: Authorize the purchase through the State of Minnesota contract for replacement <br />of unit 1408 (2014 Ford Police Interceptor Utility) with a 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility-Hybrid. <br /> <br />Legislative History: Council adopted the 2018 Capital Fleet Replacement Budget at its December 11, <br />2018 meeting. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: The City of New Brighton Fleet Capital Replacement Plan has $45,000 budgeted <br />for this expenditure. The total purchase price is anticipated to be $46,221.42. The additional expense <br />due to the hybrid purchase is anticipated to be offset through direct fuel savings. <br /> <br />ITEM State Bid <br />2020 Ford Interceptor Utility-Hybrid Price $35,764.56 <br />Squad Outfitting $10,456.86 <br />NET BUDGETARY IMPACT $46,221.42 <br /> <br />Explanation: Based upon the Vehicle Condition Index (VCI) provided by Public Works, Unit <br />1408, a 2014 Police Interceptor-Utility qualifies for replacement with a score of 44.5. This unit is <br />utilized by the patrol division to respond to emergency calls for service, in-progress criminal activity, <br />medical care, traffic enforcement, and general patrol functions. The equipment installed will be re-used <br />for future squad replacements.
