<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDERATION OF QUOTES AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CITY <br />PROJECT 19‐5, BRIGHTWOOD HILLS GOLF COURSE IRRIGATION SERVICE <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting – Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />To authorize and approve the low quotation from Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. for City Project <br />19‐5, Brightwood Hills Golf Course Irrigation Service. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />August 13, 2019 City Council approved City Project 19‐5, Brightwood Hills Golf Course <br />Irrigation Service and authorized staff to solicit quotes. <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />The purpose of this item is to obtain Council approval of a quotation submitted by the lowest <br />responsible bidder Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. The following quotations were received by staff <br />on Wednesday, September 18, 2019: <br /> <br />Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. $65,984.00 <br />Didion Contracting, Inc. $93,319.50 <br />GM Contracting, Inc. $162,060.89 <br />Penn Contracting, Inc. $133,123.00 <br /> <br />The four submitted quotations have been tabulated and the bid totals were verified. The low <br />quotation of $65,984.00 is six percent below the engineer’s estimate of $70,275.00 <br /> <br />The current irrigation system at Brightwood Hill Golf Course is supplied by an onsite well which <br />will be decommissioned and used by the Army for testing and by the DNR for water level <br />monitoring. The decommissioning of this well was recommended during a technical review of the <br />recently approved 2016 Municipal Water Supply Plan Update. Work associated with the project <br />will also include the installation of a new fire hydrant within the parking lot and the installation of <br />AGENDA SECTION: Consent <br />REPORT DATE: September 19, 2019 <br />MEETING DATE: September 24, 2019
