All zoning changes are to correct long-standing <br />zoning inconsistencies dating back a decade or more. Staff provided further comment on the <br />proposed changes and recommended approval of the Ordinance. <br />Councilmember Burg asked if staff received comments or concerns from the public. Assistant <br />Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reported 1,700 public notifications were sent out <br />and noted staff only received a handful of phone calls regarding the proposed zoning map changes. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Devin Massopust <br />Acting City Manager Massopust reported staff enjoyed attending a strategic planning retreat <br />with the City Council several weeks ago. He explained staff was reviewing the report from <br />this session and was making suggested changes for the coming year and this would be <br />discussed at the February 11th Council worksession. He indicated the Farmer’s Market would <br />be held at the Community Center again this summer. He reported the Parks Comprehensive <br />Plan Steering Committee would be meeting on Thursday, January 16th. He noted the ice <br />castles would be open to the public on Friday, January 17th. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported PREC did not meet in January. She explained this group would <br />meet next on Wednesday, February 5th. She stated the League of Women Voters would be <br />hosting an event on at the New Brighton Community Center on Tuesday, January 21st at 7:00 <br />p.m. where legislative interviews will be conducted. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission met on Monday, January <br />13th. He thanked the Mayor for attending this meeting for him. He noted VIPS would be <br />hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, January 15th at the Community <br />Center from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. He thanked the Public Works Department for working <br />diligently to keep the City’s streets free and clear of snow. He wished everyone a safe and <br />Happy New Year. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC did not meet in January. He reported this group <br />would meet next on Wednesday, February 5th at 7:30 a.m. He stated he appreciated attending <br />the staff/Council planning retreat. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported Connie Bernardy and the legislative Transportation Committee would <br />be visiting New Brighton on Wednesday, January 15th to take a look at where bonding dollars <br />could be spent in this community. She noted she would be highlighting Midtown Village and <br />the whistle free zone in the City of New Brighton. She commented on the Be Heard on <br />Cannabis Hearing that would be held at the New Brighton Community Center on Monday, <br />January 27th at 7:00 p.m. She explained she would be attending a discussion on Sex <br />Trafficking with the Mounds View/New Brighton multi-unit property owners at the Mounds <br />View City Hall on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:00 a.m. She encouraged residents to <br />purchase tickets for the ice castles online in order to guarantee a spot. She commented on the <br />words she was able to share at a recent Parks and Recreation conference.
