He discussed how staff would be incorporating the
core strategies of economic development, financial sustainability, strategic communication, safe and livable
community, high quality of life, and diversity and inclusion into the coming year. He described the strategic
objectives and short-term goals for each core strategy in further detail with the Council. He commented on
how important it was for the City to continue to pursue its brand.

Councilmember Allen requested all programs available to assist homeowners be investigated further by staff.

Councilmember Burg thanked staff for working to reeducate staff on the City’s new brand.

Mayor Johnson suggested staff consider using outside resources, such as Todd R oth, for critical incident
communication. She stated communication with the public was so important.

Councilmember Jacobsen indicated the Council should take credit for the work being doing on affordable
housing given the recent conversation with Ramsey County. Massopust stated he would make that change.

Councilmember Allen recommended National Night Out be considered a tool for public engagement.

Mayor Johnson stated she would like National Night Out to remain a neighborhood friendly/Public Safety
event.

Councilmember Jacobsen commented Stockyard Days may be a better way to push messages to the public or
the Fire Department Open House.

Councilmember Allen explained he proposed this as an option to engage the public and perhaps have a survey
completed on behalf of the City through the neighborhood captains.

Councilmember Burg stated this had been done in 2017 when a body worn camera survey was completed.
