July 14, 2020 Page 4 of 4 <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported the Cable Commission would be meeting on Thursday <br />night. She explained she would be attending an Executive Director Annual Review meeting <br />prior to the Cable Commission meeting. She thanked Dana Healy for attending the City <br />Council worksession meeting this evening and for providing an update from CTV. She <br />explained the PREC Commission did not meet in July but would be meeting in August. She <br />thanked all of the community members that attended the Listening Session last week. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would be meeting on Tuesday, <br />July 21st. He thanked all of the residents that were willing to serve as election judges for the <br />primary and general elections this year. He encouraged those that were willing to serve in this <br />capacity to contact City Hall and speak with City Clerk Spangrud. He thanked all of the <br />residents that attended the Listening Session last week. He stated he appreciated the comments <br />that were made and he hoped this would be the first of many Listening Sessions that was <br />hosted by the City of New Brighton. He explained a received a few emails from citizens <br />regarding smoking in parks noting the City had a policy in place at this time, but did not have <br />an Ordinance. He suggested this matter be considered by PREC at a future meeting. He <br />wished everyone a Happy 4th of July. He thanked all of those who have served and continue to <br />serve this country. He reported CPY would be holding their annual Golf Ball Drop on Sunday, <br />August 2nd. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported COVID was beginning to tick upward in the State of Minnesota. He <br />requested local business leaders to continue to be smart in order to slow the spread of this <br />virus. She encouraged residents to wear masks when out in public. She stated she has enjoyed <br />eating outdoors in New Brighton over the past few weeks. She reminded New Brighton <br />residents to fill out their 2020 census information. She reported July 25th and July 26th the <br />Parks and Recreation Department would be holding a Chalk Walk Festival from 10:00 a.m. to <br />8:00 p.m. Residents were encouraged to visit Veteran’s Park on those two days to draw <br />something in chalk and noted prizes would be awarded. She noted the farmer’s market was <br />open every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the New Brighton Community Center. <br />She thanked all of the residents that participated in the Listening Session and noted additional <br />sessions were being planned. She encouraged residents to consider filling out the Community <br />Equity and Inclusion Survey that had been posted on the City’s website. She commented on <br />the investments and renovations that would be occurring at the old Micom building.
