September 8, 2020 Page 5 of 5 <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would be meeting on Tuesday, <br />September 15th. He discussed how different the world was from this time last year due to the <br />COVID crisis. He stated he looked forward to the day the City Council and Commissions <br />could be together again. He encouraged the community to keep showing its resiliency. <br />Nasreen Fynewever <br />Councilmember Fynewever congratulated students, parents and staff for embarking on a new <br />school year. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the Public Safety Commission would be meeting virtually on <br />Monday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m. He thanked all of the members of the public that <br />participated in the second Listening Session that was held on Wednesday, September 2nd. He <br />encouraged the public to watch for further information regarding the resident and small <br />business assistance program. He stated he appreciated all of staff’s efforts to bring these <br />programs forward. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she attended the EDC meeting on Wednesday, September 2nd where <br />the group received a presentation on the Parks Comprehensive Plan. She welcomed all <br />students back to school and thanked them for adapting to this year’s learning environment. She <br />reported former Councilmember Mary Burg received a package from Congresswoman Betty <br />McCollum that included a flag that flew over the Capital as a thank you for her years of service <br />to the City of New Brighton. She explained the City was working diligently to provide a safe <br />place to vote on election day. She indicated residents also have the option to vote absentee. She <br />encouraged residents to keep safe and healthy as we move from summer into fall.
