He <br />explained the City’s current zoning code was drafted in the 1970’s and the City would benefit by having this <br />entire document updated. Consider a Resolution approving a 9-foot height variance for a replacement sign at 388 <br />Cleveland Avenue. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Allen to adopt a Resolution <br />approving a 9-foot height variance for a replacement sign at 388 Cleveland Avenue. <br /> <br />City Manager Massopust indicated Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola would <br />be presenting this item to the Council. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola stated Lauris Valtinson acquired the <br />property at 386 Cleveland Avenue in 2015 which included a legal nonconforming freeway sign <br />facing I-35W. With the new sound wall now going up, Mr. Valtinson is seeking a way to keep <br />the legal nonconforming sign visible once the wall is up. Staff discussed the revised sign <br />request in detail with the Council and reported the Planning Commission reviewed this request <br />and recommended approval with conditions. <br />Mayor Johnson stated she appreciated the fact the applicant had taken into consideration the <br />concerns of the City Council and had amended his sign request. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Devin Massopust <br />City Manager Massopust reported the small business and residential grant assistance programs <br />were now live on the City’s website. He explained federal CARES Act dollars were being <br />used to fund these grants. He stated the City already had 20 applications from small businesses <br />in the first week. He indicated National Night Out would be held virtually this year on <br />Tuesday, October 6th. He noted zoom meetings were being set up for the neighborhood <br />gatherings.
